Just more crying.

I use unsuccessful Turkey hunter tears for motivation. Everytime I kill one I take a moment to reflect on those that can't figure it out lol.

You know the ones. Haven't killed anything in years. They say they could have killed several but they still after ol Mossy head for the 10th season in a row.

Self proclaimed old school hunters that haven't missed an episode of THP in 3 years lol.

I got news for you old school Turkey hunters don't spend time on the internet telling you they old school Turkey hunters lol. The ones I know don't even own a computer.

It's just a built in excuse for failure.

"I don't show people turkeys I've killed" it's disrespectful. Sure it is if you ever do stumble across one and kill it you'll probably have tshirts made with your picture on it.

The bottom line. When and if you ever kill one you do whatever you want with it and guess what everyone else is gonna do the same thing. There's NOTHING you can do about it.

If a person hunts turkeys (or deer or whatever)....or anything else....for the thrill and rush of the hunt.  Yet gifts the meat, most times, to someone else who will use it all.....

That guy has no business buying tags and being in the woods enjoying the hunt ??   He has no right to be respected ??
Again, I never condemned gifting meat. I condemned not prioritizing that meat, viewing it as a hindrance or an aside because you'd rather run to another state and stack up another bird. That's a trash mentality of a slob "hunter." It's the same mentality of a deer "hunter" who'd drive around town with a buck in the bed until the maggots was crawling out its eyes. It's the same mentality of a bear "hunter" who'd spoil the hams or the whole animal because, "We wanted to get him out whole to weigh him." When a game animal is being taken, it's my opinion that the meat should be the number one priority. Doesn't mean it has to be the thing you enjoy most out of the experience, but it means you prioritize taking care of that meat so that every bit that can be utilized will be utilized by you or another. It's not an after thought. It's not an aside. It's not try to salvage "two pounds" off a turkey so I don't feel like I wasted it. Those folks get zero respect from me. They're trash. They're slobs. And the bird we cherish is above them.

This is what I got. Like I said, I don't remember who makes it but it works really well. Still surprises me a sight that nice doesn't come with a protector.

We will definitely make up for it next year, Dana. Was nice meeting your partner in crime as well. I could listen to him tell stories all evening. You helped immensely, and I had a blast. Jim, you had a great spring, and it was fun checking in and seeing what you were into. The preseason and text thread we have going is what makes it for me. I really don't care about the results. To be honest, I don't even know where we stand in scores cause I haven't checked and don't care.

Quote from: GobbleNut on Today at 09:48:54 AMFor me, personally, this entire discussion comes down to a very basic rule I have for myself: I do not kill anything that I do not plan on eating myself, giving to someone else to eat, or in the case of what are considered to be "inedible" species, utilizing those animals in some constructive way such that I can justify me causing their deaths.
...
Point being, each of us can take the "utilization of the animal" theory to whatever level each of us wants.  That being said, I fully agree that the "baseline" for hunting turkeys is that the meat of the bird be fully processed and provided for SOMEONE to eat it.
I'm with you 110% on every bit of this.

If someone is getting two pounds of meat off a bird, which is what old slobby stated in that other thread, a game animal is indeed being wasted.

As long as a game animal is not being wasted, I do not really care what someone else does with the meat. My family eats turkey and deer, but it's not their favorite.  I gave away a bird this year to a coworker that had never had wild turkey.

I give away lots of deer meat in the fall. I know people that love venison but either do not or cannot hunt, so I share with them. I've actually killed deer for people over the years, we have a very liberal bag limit and I have some places that I can pick whatever day that I want and kill a deer.

Some of you probably will despise me about hogs. I have left dozens and dozens of them where they fell. Call it waste if you want, I call it helping the landowners and other game.

If you've never hunted where hogs are a true nuisance, then you won't understand that they are destructive creatures.
