Pot Calls Forum / Removing a slate surface

Hey all, I have an old slate with a wood pot that's a good friend. A few years back the slate popped out and glued it back (forget what I used). Since then it became a lot more high pitched and touchy. Seems like it lost some vibration. I'd like to get the slate out without breaking it, clean it up and replace with better glue (I understand that goop is the stuff). Any ideas how to get the slate out? Heat the surface to breakdown the glue? Pour solvents in from the bottom? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd say we definitely lucked out with the members of this team. I've been busy with end of the year stuff at school and haven't checked in as much lately but we have had some great success this year. Hopefully we can keep this team together for years to come!

I've always carried mine in the pot/striker pocket of my vest. I was initially worried it would get broken, but I've done it for at least a dozen seasons without problems. I've got too much other stuff around my neck.

It was such a fun hunt and, man, a_jabbo isn't lying when he says it's a love hate relationship with this spot. When it works like it did that day though it makes the hike worth it and I don't know that I'll ever get tired of a double with a buddy!
