Dear Teammates,

After careful consideration of the existing scores of the other teams, I am now making an honest and reasonable announcement. I believe that the winners of the 2024 Old Gobbler Turkey Hunting Contest will be our Roaring 20's Team. The other teams may post additional gobblers between now and June 2nd, but their scores will not be sufficient to take the lead from us.

In no particular order, I would like to take a few moments to highlight some of the incredible individual efforts of woodsmanship and skills.

3seasons  Starting out with a good gobbler he managed to upgrade over and over until posting a bird that just barely missed a score of 69. Scott traveled to a number of states and compiled an impressive total of 6 scored turkeys. Congratulations Scott!

Roost1  Travelled to whack the rios out west in California and Oregon as well as the easterns of his home state of Kentucky and New Jersey. His top scoring bird came in as one of our 70+ birds at 70.37. Congratulations Greg!

Cannonball  With the possibility of missing the season due to a shoulder injury Cannonball shifted to the smaller gauges of 28 and .410 shotguns. Having done due diligence at the patterning board he felt very confident that birds were not going to be walking away from him. To prove his theory, he scored two giants this season including our team's top scoring gobbler, a mega-whopper scoring 71.34. Congratulations CB!

Honorable mention needs to go to AFhunter1 whose 69.06 beast drove us well over the other team scores into what has proved to be an insurmountable lead.

On a note of genetic interest are two birds taken by Zelmo1 and BBR13. Zelmo's incredible white bird was examined by the local biologists and was determined to probably be a domestic Royal Palm/Eastern hybrid. Amazing and beautiful bird. BBR13's big adult gobbler had snow white wing feathers with no barring. A true rare trophy bird. Congratulations guys.

2024 season will go down in The Roaring 20's history as the first championship title that we have worked so hard for and finally won. I am incredibly proud to be a part of this talented and crafty group and consider it a high honor to humbly be called your captain.

I also am proud to announce the official Roaring 20's 2024 Champions Redemption Banner upgrade. Wear it proudly as a medal for the stellar performance you gentlemen put in this season.

I have said it many times before and I will say it again, I love this sport!

Cheers  ;D

:icon_thumright: congratulations, looks like you had a couple good stalks and got rewarded at the end. I never can understand road hunting unless you're disabled. A couple years ago I went on an elk hunt with a vet that could hardly walk, he has a hunting exemption that allows him to shoot from a vehicle. During the day we were walking some pretty flat ground and he fell really hard twice, in the end he shot a seven point bull... I don't know but as I'm now getting older maybe I'll be road hunting in a few years too...  :TooFunny:
