Fun morning

Good friend of mine who was deployed for a year. Just prior to him coming home I was deployed for a year. So I got home in the spring and we hunted together one morning. I called on both birds together but we weren't able to pull off the double. I killed one and we were headed back to the truck when the second bird gobbled on his own. We ran back and set up. Got him to finally commit and Scott laid him down. It was a great morning, not a good morning for gobbling but we had a blast and got lucky.

Both of the above look like memorable hunts.

This bird was a blast. Him and I played cat and mouse for a while,  but I came out on top. He was hunted pretty hard for a couple seasons by a bunch of guys on neighboring properties, I don't think any of them played a trumpet though cause he was in love with mine. He had big spurs for our area(1-1/4") and was a beautiful copper color that shined in the sun. I killed him around 11am if I remember correctly.

2013,  had a knee replacement in January that year. The doc messed up and broke my knee and the prosthetic came loose. I got around the woods pretty slow that year!  The cabin and foundation are on a family friends place, he owns a couple of acres in the middle of national forest.

This is not a turkey pic but it's turkey hunting related. My daughter playing her cane call.

2015 I think. Shot him at 3 yards after he circled around me and popped up over a hill right next to me

When you going to turn her loose on her own?

I am antsy and tired of talking season, so I am posting a second for this Tuesday! Dirt Road and my opening weekend Double last year! Best hunt ever!

Awesome! Doubles aren't legal here, which has it's pluses and minuses. Tough to let them walk, fun to target them again.

You have to give details, you can't say something like best hunt ever and not give a story!

Donald killed one and about 1 minute later I killed the 2nd Tom. The second tom was the first one out, but Donald bird popped out 20 yards to the right. We could hear him drumming and spitting. We had those birds fired up the afternoon before, but all we managed to call in were Jake's. Donald knew where they were going to be in the morning, they showed as if given a script. Was action packed.
