So now all of a sudden we're talking about and posting about >40 yard shots on a forum with strict rules about not doing just that?

I'm brand new to TSS and not very familiar with it, others are in the same boat. Unlike my previous loads, 40 yard patterns looked great but fell on its face at 50 yards. TSS shot unlike anything I've ever chambered in my gun. My apologies for sharing my test results. It seems there are a ton of questions and no so many answers on these shells.
My point in posting the photo was you better be mindful of whats behind your target because is doesn't peter out very easy.

I've got 9 of these Apex shells waiting for a nice day my self.

Nitro said my order should ship this week, I got 10 1 5/8oz #9s and 10 1 5/8oz 8x9s coming to compare to apex

Pattern looks great how tight are you at 25yds?

100% in about 12-15".

I'm going to squeeze one more off at 75 just to get a idea on drop. I'm not expecting much, if any.
You can't be serious?

Absolutely serious. When I'm unfamiliar with something, I'm going to test it and learn how it reacts with my equipment. What exactly is wrong with that?

Mack's is getting a decent size order in the next few days from what I understand.

When Lead/Hevi/TSS are like using the same measuring stick to compare lethal range from a recurve/compound/crossbow

I hope they get 8's in as I can't shoot 9's in all the states I hunt and the federal 7's won't have enough pellet count and density which is the benefit of TSS in the first place

So your pattern numbers stayed the same from 40 yards to 55 yards?

UpperTully

Yes there's only a 3% difference outside of the 20" between the two

Using the formula that is rule of thumb with TSS, your 50 yard pattern should be more like 258 in the 10".  Of course there are anomalies, but I am having an extremely hard time believing that was a true 55 yards.  The Apex loads are very similar to those being hand loaded so they should fit into this rule of thumb calculation.

Paper is different then birds, no where did I read him advocating shooting at turkeys over 40yds. I have a pile of these GT20 shells. And glad and appreciative he's sharing his results. Soon as I get my guns assembled I'll be figuring out choke combos aswell. TSS is a different breed of shell, I'm trying to learn what does and doesn't work. Just glad folks are posting results with the factory stuff over the handloaded unavailable stuff. Most handloads can beat factory stuff but unavailable unless you do your own.

Are you a 40 yard shooter? What choke do you currently shoot?

I stood at 56 yards, verified with a range finder 3 times and shot. I have no reason to do anything but to state my findings.

FWIW Apex recently posted a photo of a 21" youth model 870 20ga that shot 83% in 20" at 52 yards.
