Just curious to which scotchbrite you prefer to condition slate and strikers. Red or green?

Green on slate and maroon on striker tips for me personally.

I use both colors for pots and strikers usually brown or maroon mostly

I'm using green on slate and use 200 grit emery cloth (it does not tear like sandpaper) for the striker.

I like maroon on slate. For strikers go to Home Depot or Lowes and get the 3m Pro Grade Precision Ultra Flexible sand roll in 150 or 220 grit. I use 220 when new and like 150 when its been used a bit. You can cut pieces the size of your palm, lay piece in your palm, push striker with little pressure and twist. This will make that tip better than new and the more you do it the better it gets. I also think you get a better radius on the tip buy doing it this way.

Brick (maroon) color I use on my slates. I use the 200 grit wet/dry automotive sandpaper on my strikers
