I think it is agreed upon that the 870 and 835 are the most popular turkey guns. What gun do you all think would come in 3rd place?

Ozarks Hillbilly

I would think SBE

My guess as well. The advent of TSS and the growing popularity of sub gauge turkey guns might, over time, shake up those rankings somewhat. As of today though, probably more turkeys killed historically with 870s and 835s than everything else combined.

100 percent correct.

3rd has to be a gun you can get under $400. There have been alot of birds killed with a SBE but I know a ton of people who can't afford one or would never pay the $$$ even if they had it. So that's why I feel comfortable with a Mossberg 500 as my vote for 3rd

Pump, id say the 500 is a good bet.  Semi auto probably Rem 11-87, but I believe thats the case in my area. Going back to the pump, if we turned back time a couple of decades, id say the Winchester model 12 was high on the list

Between the 2 Mossbergs, I'd be tempted to think more have taken to the turkey woods with a Mossberg 500 than the 835.

The Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500 are the 2 most popular shotguns of the past 6 decades.

Seems like the 870`s been produced in about a million variants. Some are kind of mutants. My turkey gun is an `05 model, Thumbhole Super Magnum Special Purpose in MO Obsession. Raised comb, true thumbhole stock, misshapen forearm stock. If it didn`t have " Remington 870 Super Magnum " on the receiver you might not guess it was an 870! Helluva turkey gun, though.

I'd say photo finish between the 500 and the 1300 but for up front affordability through the discount box stores, etc. the advantage goes to the 500.
A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409

you bring up a pretty interesting point about the 1300, i wonder why the 1300 is not carried in more retailers? If there ore profit margin in the mossbergs?

It was discontinued in favor of the SXP, no?
