First of all try to keep the bird from flopping as much as you can so he doesn't loose, break or ruffle up to many feathers. Wrap the head in paper towels or something to keep it from getting blood on the feathers and put a Ziploc bag over it. Some taxidermist want them skinned out differently if you are capable of doing it yourself. I skin my own out the way my taxidermist wants it, then fold the head down towards the chest, wrap the wings in over the head and body then you can also fold the closed tail fan down over the rest of the body. Then put it in a big plastic bag. Put it in a fridge or freezer then depending on how long it will be until you can get it to the taxidermy.
