I'll let him know I'm interested with a series of cutts/yelps right on top of his gobble. If he hammers back, I let him gobble with no immediate answer to see if he closes distance. If he is moving my way I tone down the calling to seem interested, but may be drifting away. If he keeps hammering & coming my way, take the safety off. If he stays put, he may be in a strut zone expecting me to come to him. If I can circle closer without being seen, I'll try him again. If he still doesn't budge, I'll shut up and wait on him to leave to see which way he goes and if I can get ahead of him. Sometimes going to the strut zone right quick and calling will bring him back. If he gives a courtesy gobble and keeps moving away or goes off the property, I'll scout around that strut zone for the best set up for tomorrow.
