Anyone still using hevi-shot 13? They have a $10 coupon per box available. I've always used lead but may try the hevi-shot 13.

Would you use mix blend 5,6,7 or #7?

I shot it for several years, straight #7's in 3" 12ga. They pattern good and will kill turkeys. That being said, I have used up all the Hevi-13 I had and will start using some Federal Heavyweight #7's I got a good deal on. When I use them up I probably  go with the TSS. Good luck.

Me too, and still have several boxes of straight #7s in 3" 12 gauge left. But I carry a 20 gauge with TSS now, and the 12 gauge is strictly a backup. There's nothing the blend can do the straight #7s cannot.

Presently, I shoot 3" HS-13 #6s because i got 'em for a deal, but i had loads of success with the blends. Good luck with them.

My 835 loves the Hevi 7's.  I've been shooting them for about 10 years now.  I have plenty to last me  a lifetime.  My 835 with a .670 Pure Gold choke will put up over 300 in 10 at 40 with the 3 1/2's.  I'm a Big fan of the Hevi's.

Thanks, was searching through the threads and #7 seems the way to go.

I really don't shoot past 40 yds so I feel hevi 13 is more then enough in 12 ga. Can not justify $8 (TSS) vs $4 (13) a shell when I don't feel it'll gain much Considering I use 12ga 3". Now if I decide too go 16/20 ga very different setup.

Always shot straight 6s until the prices kept rising and the patterns got worse.

I have shot Hevi-13 7s for a long time in 20 gauge. I also shot the 6s in a Remington 870 20 gauge and killed several turkeys with the 6s in that gun. The pattern with a Remington Super full in that gun were much more even and only about 10 pellets less in a 10 inch at 40 with that gun(125 with the 6s). I have a pattern photo attached from about a year ago from a single shot CVA, 20 inch barrel. I think with the Sum toy choke it was 138 and very even. That is with the 7s. I am glad you posted this. No one talks about  Hevi-13 anymore with the TSS fad.

I have been using the mag blends with great results for several years now. Have tried them in both 12 and 20 gauges and they pattern great for me. I believe they have a higher velocity than their straight shot size loads. I am usually not a fan of mixed shot size loads, but these pattern extremely well in my benelli, so i'm going to keep using them till i run my stock of ammo out.

3" Hevi-13 6`s through a 660 Jellyhead is my primary load out of an 870 Super Mag SP-T . Can`t really see TSS needed out of a 12, personally. 20 gauge? Whole different story. Can`t imagine shooting anything but TSS. Got plenty of Hevi-13,  no reason to change. 40 yards is my personal outside limit, anyway.

With Hevi-13, you`re actually shooting some tungsten. It`s a part of the alloy along with iron and nickel (I think, on the nickel ? ).

For straight lead, in my gun, I wouldn`t hesitate to use Winchester Longbeard XR. If there`s a better lead shell, I don`t know what it is.

Shot the straight #7s for years, no complaints on their turkey killing ability.

Straight 7s with a .650 choke

I have been using the Hevi-7's in my 930 Turkey for years and love they way they hammer long beards.  I think they are a great happy medium between led and TSS in a 12ga.

TrackeySauresRex

Yup, Hevi 7 though my 20. I will go to lead if they discontinue it. The tss 9 isn't legal here and I'm not paying for it.
