CRAPPY SEASON.... I managed to call in a bird for my boy, but no love from the birds for me.  I've been out 5 mornings in a row and nothing.  No gobbles, nothing.  I heard some hens, but that's about it.  It's like they all just dissapeared.  I know they are there.  I'm hopeing to have some luck in PA next week.

I feel ya.  Where are you?

I roosted my first ever and called a total of 4 yelp series and 1 cluck.  Gobbled at 550 and down at 613.  This was Friday 5/6 and before this the gobble on the ground had been only 2 for the first 2 weeks of the season.  I live in WV and I believe b/c of the wet weather the hens are just starting to nest good.  It is going to pick up, I think.  This week will be good.

Nothern Virginia outside of Winchester.   I think those two weeks in Feb. when it was in the 70 low 80 have them all messed up.

I agree and the wet weather has kept the hens with the gobblers and not nesting.  At least, this is what I am hoping is going on.  I am going to try to hunt every morning before work, but have to be there by 8 so I am really limited.  Then I can't hunt again until next Saturday and going to try to get my boy a second bird then it will be my turn again.  I still have birds to hunt so I am very optimistic.  It will improve.

I've had multiple birds everytime I'm out gobbling their heads off but they won't come in.  I called in some jakes for my boy, I shot a full fan jake but besides that the longbeards are gobbling like crazy but I can't seem to get them to come to the gun??

I'm with you too, might be tag stew for me if next Saturday isn't my lucky day.

I think it is going to improve.  Hens are just getting started nesting good due to the wet ground and the warm weather in Feb.  Good times to come guys, keep getting out there.

Been a rough year here in SW Va as far as gobbling and the # of gobblers go but still getting in on some action.  Seen 4 die, 2 misses, and we could have shot numerous jakes.  I should have tagged out yesterday afternoon around 2:30  but I screwed up.  Im concentrating all my efforts this week on 1 bird that has been henned up all season.  I fooled with him for 3.5 hours thursday and he stayed within 100 yards the whole time even getting as close as 50 but could not see him but could here him drumming and gobbling and his hen yelping.  All of this on national forest.

yes i also had a tough first week here in n.pa.but so did several other turkey killers i know.there is no doubt in my mine that it is because of the hens with them and it has to get better!
