Does anyone out there own a CZ Swamp Magnum? I'm interested in this gun but can't find many user reviews. I was specifically wondering about POI/POA for both barrels. Any information would be appreciated.

Turkeytaker203

I mistakenly called this gun a Swamp Magnum, I'm really wanting to know about the Reaper Magnum.

I bought one when they first came out. It's an awesome gun and shoots great. I never fired a 3.5 shell but have killed some birds with a 3 inch and shot the gun a lot. The top barrel was perfect poa poi while aiming at the wattles at 40 yards . The bottom barrel was perfect if I aimed at the head out to 25 yards. The barrels are regulated pretty good and the quality is very nice. I really like the fact that you have the option of using 2 different chokes. I have a .660 Carlson in the top barrel and a modified in the bottom. I shoot 3 inch tss or hevi shot in the top and 2 3/4 number 5 heavy field load in the bottom. The rail for an optic is nice but I put adjustable sights on mine. I will add the trigger is pretty good also.

Since it is a turkey gun wonder why they went with 26" barrels? Maybe made it to light?

As you know it's pretty nice with the 26 because of no long receiver. It's like a 23-24

Turkeytaker203

Yes that's what I have been told. Since the barrels are just forward of the trigger, and there is no real receiver, a 26 become as short or shorter than a 24.

I am also considering purchasing the CZ reaper myself. I currently own an American Arms over/under that I turkey hunted with last year. It is also a 26" , but hunted like a 24" based on the o/u configuration as mentioned.

I had a bad experience with the American Arms last season when I pulled the trigger on a gobbler and had both barrels discharge simultaneously. Gobbler was killed, but so was my shoulder as it was bruised for a week. Nothing like shooting (2) 3 1/2" mags at the same time.

I've had the gun to a gunsmith that can't find anything wrong with it, but I do like hunting with an over/under so I'm in the market for a new one. Not interested in another one of those situations, and I don't trust the gun anymore.

Keep the information coming on the CZ Reaper. Nice to hear a good review, because all the other reviews I've read online talk about the barrel regulation and POA/POI issues.

Turkeytaker203

The barrel regulation and POI/POA issues is what's holding me back. I had several semi autos that have had POI/POA problems. Some where easy to fix with a shim change. Two guns could not be corrected with shims after much effort. Both of those had to have sight changes. I could see an O/U being a huge problem if the barrels where off. So far the Reaper is the O/U that I most interested in but I'm a bit concerned. I can't afford a Browning Cynergy, well I can , but my wife would have a cow!!!! And I'm afraid of her...

This is an interesting gun. I own several cz pistols that are very nice.

Anyone know what choke threads are in these?

They use benelli/mobile choke system. The poi poa is easily fixed on these guns by adding an optic. It is very hard to find an over and under that shoots both barrels the same. I have heard that the only one is the Browning's. The gun is very well made and shoots nice.

Thanks RemMan for the info. I watched a video that showed how low the supplied optic rail sits on the rib. I already have two guns with Burris Fastfire 3's on them. They work really well. Putting one of these would work well and as you said could help if the POA/POI was off.

Rem Man

Absolutely!   I can tell you the gun wasn't off enough with either barrel to miss a turkey!!! I think you would be pleased with the gun.

Anyone know of a decent O/U 20ga? I like this but I think if I buy a new gun I would go 20

I just purchased a CZ upland ultralight green in 20ga. I will give an update on it after I get it patterned.
Carlsons, trulok and Sumtoy are the only choke options so hopefully I can get one barrel to pattern well for long range.
Fingers crossed, it would be a dream to carry at 5.8 lbs.
