We're bout midway through NJ and just over a week old in NY. I have issues w direction but so far it's been a fun year. Was under 2 years ago I had surgery and I didn't know if I'd ever enjoy this again but I knew like hell I'd try.
Started out youth day with a real nice bird at 24 yards but we missed. A few days later I got my chance. The bird hung up under 50 but I don't shoot that far. He loved the Lonzo Green slate though.
Few days later I tried a few hundred yards away using the Lonzo green slate.
Double beard came in and drove home w me.
NY opener. Jrrodc n I were together in an area we doubled before. So it's gets light and birds are all around us. A few tree yelps w SS scratcher, bird flies into set. One down and better than 23 lbs. Just a little bit passes, we left the bird lay. A little calling on the scratcher a bird gobbles close Jrrodc scores a bird over 22 lbs.
Next day we go out see a bird in range but don't connect.
Yesterday, we head over to some state land in NY. Birds all around us again. I try my Lonzo green slate again. Long story short a pair walks in and we bust em. Tagged out in NY and we get another double. 3 in 3 years I think. Pretty cool.
Other than a day or so the first week it's been a fun year.
The Lonzo green slate was used 3 times and called in birds each time. Twice to a kill.
