Went out with my daughter this morning and had a great day. At 7am we had a lone gobbler work his way about 80 yards just shy of our decoys. I got my daughter ready and much to our disappointment, he never came the distance and walked into the woods at a spot where she couldn't swing her gun to get on him.

We listened to him gobble in the woods and then I looked down to the corner of the field where he initially appeared and seen another gobbler and two hens. I immediately focused on him and he was headed towards us.

Again, I got my daughter ready. Just as soon as he reached the spot here the gobbler before him exited the field, his hens began to do the same. My daughter looked at me and said "dad you kill him" as she didn't have a shot once again and she thought he would follow the hens. I asked if she was sure and she said yes.

At 7:38 the 870 barked an a nice gobbler was on the ground. #1 for the season for me:
1.5in hooks, 8.5in beard, and 21.81lbs.

Its a nice bird but I wish she could have took him. I think because it was very windy today, the decoys moved just a little too much for their liking. Friday we are giving it another try so hopefully she tags out then.
