The slick green is louder and higher pitch than black in my experience. The blasted side is mellower and like a slate on steroids.

 I have a green aluminum Sinclair Cocobolo that has lured quite a few gobblers to their demise. I also have a Chain Reaction Black Palm that plays very well too !!!
