Well, today we headed North about 80 miles, got on some private land, walked out of the truck up a hill about a quarter, first thing we heard four gobblers before we set foot in the area we were headed. Got set up, sat and played on the long box real quiet like, sh-bam! They all began singing like a quartet, every time I touched that box, they hollered at me like a momma calling her kids at supper time....then the the "OLD MAN" started in ...he gobbled like a clap of thunder...deep and throaty...he was on my back side in 10 minutes, there was an old logging road above me, he was heading right down it, to my left a huge ravene that ran the length of the field we were in , he was about 35 yeards out above me to the left, all I could see was a black side and some brown feathers looking at me, but boy was he huge, I was getting ready to plow his door, just needed a head shot...and...all of a sudden three hens come bopping up the ravene cuttin'....he let out a "yea-hoo" turkey style and took off towards them puffed up like a blowfish...struttin' and prancin' ... last I saw him he was leading the ladies over the other side, never heard abnother sound from him, but he is on my " X " list...watch out Monday!!!!!!!
