Who has spray painted their shotgun?

I finally worked up the nerve to paint my 20 gauge hatsan escort,it is a great little turkey gun and its in matte black.I just went and spent 18 dollars on 5 different colors of acrylic paint and sponges.I am going to paint it this afternoon.

half done the gun,letting it dry,I like it.I think i may add some lighter green after I finish it and let it dry for a day.

I finished the gun and let it dry,I am going to go back and grab a little brown/beige and a greyish paint.I like it but I want to add a bit of lighter color and some grey,maybe mix it in with black and brown as well.It was fun to do.I am happy,I will try and get some pictures up tonight or tomorrow after it dries.

Did this one in an ATACS FG type pattern with rattle can for the stock and forearm. Started with light sanding on the factory black stock, then wiped down with acetone. Then hit it with a couple of coats of adhesion promoter. Then 3 coats of ultra flat clear rattle can over the finished camo coats.

Receiver and barrel I did with the duracoat aerosol. I have had this gun since college and the finish was wearing badly. This is 2nd season using this gun with the duracoat. Also did the 26" barrel for dove and waterfowl season. Finish is holding up very good. I don't baby it ...it gets used and hunted hard.

I spray painted mine...

As the paint comes off I touch up...  I use Rustoleum primers in some combinations of matt greens and browns.

After duck season, I typically add a bit more green in preparation for turkey season, and before duck season I add a bit more brown...

These primers have significantly reduced the glare, and made it tough for me to find my gun after a short "nap" while turkey hunting in the tall grass...

I did the spray paint and sponge paint job as well on my 870.  I used the Rustoleum "camo" paint cans in tan, OD green, and brown.   After surface prep, I painted the whole thing tan.  Next, I sprayed wide diagonal stripes with the green.   The stripes were wide enough that it only took about 4 - 6 to cover the entire gun.  Then I spayed enough paint in a Styrofoam plate until it puddled up.  I sponged the green on top the tan stripes, and the tan on top of the green stripes.  Finally, I sponged brown over the entire gun.  I liked the way it turned out.  If the paint wears or chips in any area, it is easy to sponge a little paint back in that area.

I've hand painted several guns.  You can make it as simple or as complex as you want.  My current gun started life as a Remington 870 Youth 20ga.  I stripped the gun completely down, taped up the parts I didn't want paint in/on, sanded, cleaned, primed, resanded, primed, painted, and coated with two coats of clear.  When I tapped off the areas I didn't want paint, I taped in coat hangers so I could handle/hold the parts while painting and hang to dry when finished.  The main thing is to make sure all oil is off the gun and dry then lay down a good layer of primer for the paint to stick to.  My paint job has held up as well or better than any dip jobs I've had done on guns going on 10 years now.
