How long after a miss? ???? UPDATED

Depends on how they reacted. Buddy missed one that was with another bird opening morning, we went back after lunch and killed them. At most give him a couple days.

Yep most definitely didn't bother him. Went to other end of the property today just to get away from that area and the hottest bird I heard this morning was in the spot of the miss. Ended up connecting on a gobbler about 11:45 this morning about 30 yards from where I was sitting yesterday.

A friend of mine made a bad shot on a rio one morning. I heard a bird gobbling in that area at lunch so I went to him. Called a little bit and he came right to me. When I cleaned him he had several fresh #5's (which what my buddy shoots) in his breast I shoot #6's. So in about six hours that bird had been called up and shot twice!

Hunt long enough and that happens, no worries. Years ago I shot and missed a nice gobbler, saw him fly across a valley. Walked over to where I thought he landed set up and he started gobbling. Did not miss him that time.

I called one in for a friend and he missed the bird clean, we smoked a butt and 300 yards later had that bird gobble again, this time he fell to my friends shot. Another guy I called a bird in for missed, or so we thought. A few days later I called that bird in again for another and he dumped it, had copper pellets in the breast where the bird was killed with hevi-shot.

It happens, if hes breathing hes killable. Adjust your tactics accordingly.
