lower pitch call

I think I want a call that produces a lower pitch to mimic a gobbler. I've tried the calls I have with different strikers in center of surface but to me the pitch sounds too high. I want a good ceramic call anyway so any recomendations would be appreciated.

Hey Hawk,

I know it's not ceramic but roger parks make a good gobbler slate that has excellent yelps.

Not ceramic but Rohm Brothers Gobbler Slate is another good one.

Absolutely a great call!

Ceramic probably isn't the best option. I can coax a decent jake yelp out of the ones I have, but it still leans more toward a mature hen more then a young gobbler. I second the Roger Parks Gobbler slate. Wonderful call.

If you don't want to have to get another call, find a striker that seems kinda "dead" for your normal hen sounds... I'd imagine you could find somewhere near the middle of your slate with said striker that produces very low, almost bellowing yelps. In my opinion this is as good a gobbler Yelp you can get on a hen call, you just have to find the right wood/striker.

Another vote for Roger's gobbler slate and also his "new" design glass call. It's got that old, barky sound you're looking for!
