my story to bird #2 Well this paticular morning was supposed to be a hunt with a buddy at a new location but when I get a call at the last minute my plans changed. I hunt about 95% of the time by myself not by choice that's just the way my schedule is. I actually head  back to the property where I had been chasing the big bird, he never sounded off so I had to leave for an appointment. after my meeting I was anxious to get back in the woods so I grab my gear and take off. I call a buddy to see if anyone was at a lease that I have only hunted one time this season. I get the OK and I knew exactly where I wanted to go and setup. After my 1 mile hike to my location I come to a field that is surrounded by planted pines on one side and drops of into a hardwood bottom on the other. I hit the crow call to see if anything is in the area. well I didn't want to cut through the field so I skirt the woods around to my setup.
once I get there I hit the crow call one more time before I crawl out to setup my decoy, at this point the wind has picked up and I think I hear one in the hardwoods. Well I hurry and setup and get out my glass slate to cut through the wind sure enough he answers my first call. after 1 hour of him goblin I sit my call down and go silent and so does he. Now I'm watching these crows who have been over him the whole time and they let me know he is still there. They follow him as he moves around to the planted pines still raising cane. finally he breaks and comes into the field and struts all the way in once he spots my decoy. Thanks to the crows I have #2 on the ground

Great story.  I have used noisy crows to keep tabs on lock-jawed gobblers from time to time.
