Turkey Scope Recomendation

I never thought this would happen, but at 53 years old, I am having trouble seeing my rear and front sight on my 11-87. My distance vision is still good, but close vision is bad. I have to wear reader magnifiers now to read. I see the Burris FF3 is highly recommended, but which would be better with my close vision problem, a scope or a FF3? Looking for advice from others who have experienced this problem that comes with quite a few birthdays.

Once you reach a certain age, resolving a front sight, rear sight plus a 40 yard target becomes darn near impossible; I am 75. I use a scope on all my turkey guns and the problem is solved. I think about 2.5X is darn near perfect for the turkey hunting I do.

I use an old Pentax lightseeker 2.5 in mossy oak. Really happy with it.

I like the small reflex sights like vortex and Burris over tube style.. scopes have pros and cons but reflex reddots have no cons imo

What's the "Con" of a scope? Have killed a pile of birds with mine without fail for over 20 years, have started off a bunch of kids with it as well without issues and is easier for them to be on target. Just wondering what you think?

I've only ever owned one red dot and the con with it was in bright sunlight I couldn't see the dot. I've used a Nikon Turkey Pro for years and have had no issues at all. They don't sell them anymore,but the Leupold 1×4 with the turkey reticle looks very similar. If I didn't have spares and needed to replace that's the scope I'd replace with.

Its hard to beat a Aimpoint Pro. Leave the thing on all the time. Have to change the battery once every two years.

The battery can be left on for the entire season, all day and night, and you will never run out of juice. As a matter of fact you can leave it on for an entire year, in the gun cabinet, and get it out the following Spring, and it will still have battery power left...........don't ask me how I know.

FF3 has an auto shut off after 12-14 hours. But yes, it would last for about a year with the same battery if it could stay on..

I have truglow on my 870 turkey special killed bunches over the years never had a problem bought 20 ga 11/87 to hunt with this year put a reflex sigbt on it has green an red 4 different aiming reticule,s like it better smaller lighter
