I believe the tail fan measurement should be utilized more as a determination of the ''quality'' of the bird......beards and spurs seem to vary... some big birds have shorter beards and (or) spurs than they should....the weights of birds diminish as the breeding season starts..according to his fan and large feet and head, my biggest bird only showed average spurs and beard....as it was late in the season ,he was very light for his size.......
