This morning I called a bird in and missed it wilh my bow, I clipped a small limb and the bird took off at a fast walk out the hill. dad handed me his shotgun and told me if I wanted to shoot it i could because he couldn't see it but I told him I wanted to kill 1 with my bow this year and by the time dad could see him he was to far to shoot.this evening I decided to take a blind because I got soaked this morning and it was still raining so I got set up about 2:30 and set back and waited. I honestly didn't think I would see anything as windy as it was because the blind was bobbing up and down, i was wore out from holding the blind down even though it was staked down.Around 6 a hen came under the fence to the decoys and not long after she went on over the hill I could hear 1 drumming and getting closer. I never could see him because he came in beside the blind and this bird was probably withing 20 yards of the blind for over 30 mins, he was so close I could hear his wings dragging in the dirt. Finally I seen his head going out the fence row and I got ready. After he crossed the fence he strutted a little but mainly picked around, I drew on him once but decided to hope he would come closer because it was so windy.  He fed closer and closer until he started feeding over the hill in the direction the hen had went off and I decided It was time because if he got any farther around I wouldn't be able to shoot. So I came to full draw and soon as I shot I knew my arrow had hit the blind because it sounded like a rifle going off. He didn't know what had happened but began walking up the hill and I was able to get another arrow knocked and get back on him, this time my arrow found the mark and he hoped back under the fence. I gave him a little time and started up to where he went under the fence and before I made it there I looked down in the holler and could see him laying. About 40 yards from where I shot him. He weighted 21 po 5 ou had a 9 1/4 in beard and 1 in spurs.
