My season can only get better after an opener like saturday. I worked three birds in two different sets and killed ZERO.
Had bad luck all day.
The roost hunt ended when 4 coyotes spooked the two longbeards I was working out of the field. One of the coyotes actually came after my decoys, but 2 and a quarter ounces of hevi 6's made sure that she didnt make it out of the field.
My second set came crashing down when the wind blew my hen decoy over before the gobbler topped the rise in the field where he would have been able to see her. Of course Im not for sure he would have come the last 100 yards to her, but when he did top the rise and didnt see any hen he just headed back the way he came.
We will see what sort of luck this week brings....
