Going from full size truck to mid size....

Had a ranger ext. cab for years, had to trade it in to get my wife a new car so I took over driving her 09 Pathfinder 4WD.  Gotta admit I like the extra room but when it's time for me to get a new one my heart is set on an F-150 crew cab 4WD.  I've got two young ones so I have to be able to tote them around too and the ranger just wasn't cutting it.

I've owned 2 GMC Sierr@  z71s.... I'm really thinking about going to a Toyota Tacoma, but unsure on size. Any one gone from a full-size pickup to a smaller one? How was it? Just me and wife, no kids. I'm 5'10" and 235lbs. Sure seems like the yotas run forever. Both gmcs I've had get 130-140k on them and stuff just goes to hell.

I went from a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab to a 2004 Toyota Tacoma double cab 3 years ago. I've had no regrets at all. only issue I have is the double cab only has a 5 ft bed. I keep a camper shell on year round and I can carry most anything under lock that I may need for deer and turkey hunting. If you don't need a full back seat, you could go with an Access cab and gain another foot of bed and still have storage behind the front seats. I've currently got 165,000 mile on mine and it's still running strong! I've had a few things, mechanical, need to be looked at, but that's with any truck! I personally don't think you'd go wrong! I'm 6 foot and 200 lbs and I don't feel cramped or limited while driving! My wife and I usually take my truck when we go on vacation and I've driven it to Ohio, Kentucky and the Smoky Mts. on several occasions with no regrets. I usually average around 20 mpg on interstate travel also.

I have an F 150 for work and things but my hunting truck is a 97 S10 with 220 000 on it.  Gets 27 mpg.

Downsized from 2005 Silverado Z71 to a 2013 Tacoma Crew Cab V8 TRD with a long bed.
Hated it.
Nothing at all wrong with the Tacoma.....reliable, good ride, and great resale value.
It just did not fit me.
Traded the Tacoma in for a 2015 Ford F-150 4x4.
Much, much more comfortable and happier and with minimal losses due to great resale value of the Tacoma. Also no appreciable difference in fuel economy.

Drove a 1997 Tacoma 4X4 Extended Cab for over 16 years. It had about 240,000 miles on it when I sold it. It ran great & didn't need any oil added between changes. Great tuck. Really wish I could have kept it but needed the money for the newer 2013 Tacoma 4X4 Access Cab I bought to replace it. Seemed to me like the Toyota's just didn't spend as much time at the repair shop as the others. I had a full size 1988 chevy truck before the Tacoma & had no problem at all going to the smaller truck.

I went from a crew cab 2500 to a Tacoma when I went back to school to save money. It was a good little hunting truck, but I'm ready to go back to the full size with a crew cab now. Talk of babies and more dogs means we need more room.

I will say though I only got that Tacoma seriously stuck once.

I went from a full size z71 to a crew cab v6 tacoma and will never have another full size truck. These tacoma are tough as nails. I've had a 03 and now have a 2012 and never had any problems. Mileage runs around 16 town and 20 hwy. I have noticed that the new ones have a lot more bells and whistles which personally I don't care for.
