Setting up the night before?

Well as posted yesterday, I have a new spot to scout for the weekend.  I heard birds there last Saturday and feel they will be close to the same area.  They are in an area that does not get any pressure.  My plan is to take the blind with me and set it up on the field that is between two roosting spots.  Would you be worried about going in the afternoon before a hunt to set up a blind and make a quick walk through?  I plan on doing this 3 hours before sunset.  Also, if I see birds, do I back out or just keep moving like they are not there?  Any other tips or ideas?

I wouldn't set up the blind until after dark but I guess it depends where the birds are in the afternoon and where they are roosting.

I did this a few years ago but I was in there mid day on the day before, we went in next morning and there was a gobbler roosted right above us and 4 more all around us, the one above us flew out about 80 yards and walked right back to us. The blind did not bother them at all and they roost there all the time. I would be a little leery of being there only 3 hours before fly up they could easily be just loafing around the area and if you spook them out of there to close to fly up they'll be else where in the morning.

I was planning on setting up in the corn field that the farmer mentioned.  He said he has been seeing them there.  I don't have to set the blind up, but I would like to see the lay of the land.  Maybe I can get out tonight and check it out.

I would:

Try to get out to see the land and get more comfortable.  Ease your way around and in and if you can, set up the blind.  If not, then do your best not to get busted and back out.  It will be much better to have that blind up before hand as your morning will be less difficult.  Also, if you can't get the blind up, then go a little earlier and set it up in the morning.  I use a red light when I am out before sunrise.  I just like to have a good idea of the lay of the land and you might be there to see them fly up or get a gobble on the roost to pin point a location.

you might get pump them and they wont roost there.  wait and do in in the dark go in extra early in the morning

Well I went and checked it out after work.  It looks good.  There is a small woods that is the small part of an L and the long part of the L is hardwoods.  The inside corner of the L is a nice field with small roads coming into it from the woods.  We would have to loop around the woods to get on the field, but if we did and they are there, we will be close to them.

I would wait till dark for sure of set it up first thing early before it gets lite, we've done it both ways and have been very sucessful, if you do it while it's still day light your likely to spook any birds in the area.
