The gaps disappear after a couple fouling shots in my gun. Several hunters on Facebook have posted nearly identical patterns recently with that same load. My concern is a 10 yard shot on a bird that comes in behind me. I shot the same load through my BPS with a .665 IC choke and it was a big hole at 25 yards. At 40 about the same as the 835. I usualy shoot magblends in the BPS so as a control I shot a mag blend then a long beard at 40 yards from the BPS. No question the magblend was much more forgiving. I am rethinking what I want to do now. I used to think it was cool to get it tight as possible for the occasional 50 yard shot but now looking at it logically I shoot more birds at 20 to 25 yards. Going to take some thought.

:morning: I got caught up in the #'s game back when Turkey Thugs were the rage. Patterned all my guns with the 3"x 5's and stocked up. All my guns shoot great hunting patterns and I'm a happy guy!  :camohat:

Not yet. We have another place to shoot that we can back up all the way to 100 yards. The bench is on wheels. I am going to try it tomorrow if it will quit raining.

:z-winnersmiley Pay NO attention to the nay-sayers on here they are jealous their set-up isn't as impressive as yours....personally I think it's great when fellow outdoorsmen/women have success!!!! Folks on here are acting like the 300 mark is impossible....well you have proof it's not and so do I in the form of a SBE 2 , Roberts Final Strut .650 choke ,H-13 3.5"-2.25oz.-#7 ....40yds. LASERED 336 hits in a 10" circle once 317,308,299,and 321. Shot one box of 5 and they ALL put up kick- #s. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! GOOD LUCK THIS YEAR!!!!

Calculations??? It's a ten inch circle calculated and certified by Stanley.

Stanley is incorrect then, because duct tape is 2" wide. If that duct tape is 2" wide, then that ain't a 10" circle. That's a fact!

The tape used is 1.88" wide that's a fact. Try again chief

Hansonc

Well you went from saying if that tape is 2" wide to saying it is for a fact 2" wide then explain this?

So you used a baseline of 2" wide tape and said my circle was 10.5 if not closer to 11 inches. So when you adjust for the fact it's 1 7/8" your little to scale operation comes in at 10" or in your case you'll still try to rebuke it by saying its not a true 10" circle. Next time you're at Wally World check out the ole tape aisle take a nice bite of that crow.

Too tight!  You best hold a tight bead on one of he's standing at 20, just my opinion.

Yes I can duplicate numbers from 320- 340 with LB 6 out of my setup. That's great you get such impressive #s from a HTL load but that's an apple to oranges comparison. I can also get from 290 to 310 with a rob Roberts .660 with the same load. Not bad for lead if you ask me.

I know this was a while back but I might have discovered something. The double and triple strikes may have been the product of the resin being a little too binding. Different lot aint doing this. If it stays nice I will do some more patterns with a new lot and post the pics. The dirty barrel must have been dragging enough to break more of the resin. Stay tuned

reflexl

It appears my assumption about the resin holding together tighter than normal was correct. More than likely W-W already knows this and changed the formula. I am going to try to go to the range this weekend and do some more work with the set ups. despite the huge pellet counts I didn't like the holes in the patterns. I will take a really even 270 count in 10 any day over an inconsistent 300+.
