Picked up a 26" barrel to convert my Mossberg 500 slug gun over to a turkey killer. Now comes the fun part. Which choke/shell combo should I try first?

I'd say start with some fed hw #7's or hevi #7's with a sumtoy or a trulock hw #7 choke. Some people have also had luck with the Carlson .575 choke

I have had 4 20's and have 3 now. From my experience with fed hw #7, a mod will do 100 in 10 at 35yds, a full will do around 120 in 10 at 40yds, The tightwad in a 500 will do 110 in 10 at 40 with 2 3/4 and 150-160 with a 3". These are averages with temps from 40 to 70. The 20" looks great with the full and thats they way I have a super bantam set up for my kids. Hope this helps!

Thanks Yall.  I happened to have a Primos Tightwad laying around.  I'll start with it, if I need go upgrade I'll probably go for a Sumtoy or Tru Lok.

No reason to overthink it. My dad and i have killed a lot of birds with just the extra full choke

1. What chokes do you currently have?
2. Will you be shooting Pb or HTL loads?

Only two defining forces ever died for you.
1. Jesus Christ.
2. The American Soldier, Sailor, Airman, and Marine.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Factory full and Primos Tightwad.

Probably be shooting HTL with Hevi and HWT 7s being my 1st preferences.

my oldest boy has done well with an Indian Creek .555 with HS mag blends and the hevi 5s &  6's. it shot a tighter pattern than the tight wad and undertaker we tried.

he's killed 2 birds in the last couple years, one at about 10 yards with the #5s and last years was 39.5 yds per rangefinder with the mag blend.

my youngest is next, both have 500 20 bantams so we'll be seeing what his prefers soon enough.

going to start with the more open ones and go from there, and try the IC .555 in his to see if it likes it.

if so, that's probably what we'll stick with. simpler to have them set up the same, I hope it works out that we can......now if I could just get him to sit still out there we'd have it going on, lol.
Didn't realize when I chose my user name someone else had almost the same handle...
