Browning Maxus, TruGlo SSX Choke, WLB XR #6
« on: March 21, 2015, 01:13:04 PM »
Got out and got to shoot my gun a few times this morning.  Temp was about 50 degrees, and about a 15mph wind from right to left.

I didn't have a ton of time so I just shot a few shots..didn't count holes or anything afterwards, just snapped a pic.

First shot I took was from 30 yards, and I thought the pattern looked pretty good.  Im hoping the fact that the densest part of the pattern is off to the left is due to the wind.

I then took 2 more shots from 40 yards, and they looked pretty much the same as the pattern from 30 yards, just slightly off to the left a little more.

Im thinking it will be good enough for a backup gun..

Nice looking patter. I would imagine the wind played a part in the shot being left.

Nice pattern. Just move her over a few inches and you're all set

I concur with Captain Hook. Line up the POA and POI and that gun will be a very effective killing machine. Good luck.

With just the factory bead on there, how do you do that?

This is my waterfowl/dove gun, and its only a back-up turkey gun, so I don't want to mess with it too much if I dont have to..

You can change the shim settings and this will adjust your POA / POI some. Based on the windy condition when you shot, try shooting the gun at 20 yards (with a firm rest) and see where your POI is. You might find it's not off as much as you first assumed.
