What has been the best choke shot yet with the long beard #4's? I used to shoot lead #4's thru my old 870 and killed turkeys and coyotes clean to 40 yards no problem. When I got my SBE II I jumped on the hevi bandwagon shooting #6s thru a jellyhead and I have never seen such dead turkeys out to 50 not even flopping. But I have shot 5 coyotes with this load only to find blood trails and never find the dog.

Only thing that makes me wanna go back to #4 lead is how clean they killed Wiley when he came in for a turkey dinner. I don't think the ones I am shooting will ever have turkey on the menu again just want the best combo load for both...

I have a indian creek, carlsons non ported, and a kicks thunder in 665 also a jellyhead in a .660.

Every gun will be different unless they have your model with the same lenght barrel. There's a general rule on here not to mention turkey shots over 40 yards, and if you are skilled enought to do it , you need not post it. I'am looking for Shannon to come on here and give a few slap downs due to there a lot of talk of long shots being mentioned.

Iam sure someone will drop by soon and give you their results of similar or same gun.

Worth is right.

How far away were the yotes that you shot?  I kill them in the Spring with #6 lead turkey loads, they don't seem to be that tough.

The yotes have been 35-40 which sickens me. They flop over roll then run off.... I hate it. When I go after just them I use #4 buck in a patternmaster and flatten them big time. We have just struggled with the hevi 6s.

As far as long shots we measure an 18" circle at lasered 45yds for our pattern to make sure we have a well distributed pattern and with the jellyhead I get 300 and the Indian creek gets 330 we were so amazed we still have the targets.

I was just guessin that we were getting the knockdown or penetration we used to with lead on the yotes I should also mention these are eastern yotes averaging 35-40 lbs. Which is what drew me to ask about the long beard 4s. I plan to pattern all the chokes with them and will hopefully post pics once our goose season is over here.

My son has been shooting a Benelli M2 for a few years and we've tried a lot of chokes through it.
The best we found for that gun was a .650 Sumtoy. It consistently put up better numbers with all shells. He particularly liked the 3" longbeard #4. He said they didn't flop much at all with the #4's. That load averaged in the mid to upper 130's with an occasional 140's @ 40 yards.
Not saying it would be the one for yours but this gun was pretty picky, and we tried a lot of chokes.

I have a Carlson ported .665 that put 130's in 10" @ 40 yrds with Win LB 3" #4 - 1 3/4 oz
The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.

My SBE with a Primos Tight Wad .655 put 130 with 3.5" #4 Longbeards 2oz.  My buddy's 870 did 143 with a Jellyhead .665, same shells.

shot the 3.5" #4's today through my rem 870 with a .660 Jellyhead.... absolutely lethal... at 25 yds it was still a softball.

Good example of a quality shell making a cheap choke look good. That tight wad was probably $20.
