Is it worth the money to get my Benelli supernova forcing cone polished and lengthened?

CrustyRusty

Probably not..what kind of numbers are you getting with it as is.  I'd hate to see you spend good money on only marginal increases in performance..  polishing can be done by yourself and a good cleaning, I'd try that first.

If its a gun you plan on keeping for a while I would.  It can help it did with my patterns.  You can get it done by rob roberts for $75 he does great work and has the fastest turn around time.  Good luck with your choice.

Rob Roberts "understands" Benelli barrels and is the only person I can recommend to do that work as well. The transition from the chamber to the forcing cone and then to the bore is important. My 3-year long study of harmonics in shotgun barrels was very informative to me about what happens to shot once it leaves the shell. Harmonics (vibrations) greatly influence the patterns and whatever we can do to settle the shot charge is beneficial.

It's kind of a long article but if you're interested in what happens when the shot leaves the shell and how to settle it, you might find it interesting. http://allaboutshooting.com/article_info.php?articles_id=580

I've had it done on my Benelli SBEII and my Beretta AL391. I don't regret it one bit and would do it again. I also plan to have my M2 20 gauge done eventually as well.
