Spring Creek Calls

What do you consider the best wood striker for a crystal pot call? Lost both of my strikers for this call on the walk out from a successful hunt. I've replaced the carbon striker but would like a couple new wood strikers also.

I really like diamond wood or purple heart. I love Harold fowler strikers. he is great to deal with and wont break the bank. I have 2 dozen of his strikers and they are the only ones I use. of course that's just my personal opinion and preference.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

Tulipwood
They make a so, so call sound a lot better, they work great on any glass or slate calls.

Thats the thing with pots and strikers. I don't really think that there is a best. Every different variation may get a bird fired up. One time I was walking with this veteran turkey hunter and every few hundred yards he would fumble through his vest and pull out a different striker and proceed to make the lousiest call I have ever heard. Sometimes he would go through 3 or 4 strikers before moving on. I was looking at him and going what is he doing and sur enough on the 3rd or 4th striker he gets a gobble. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. So you never know what bird wants to hear what combo.

Macassar Ebony, Tulipwood, and Black Locust, or Purple Heart depending on the call.

Quite a list! I haven't run all of those on crystal but I have run a lot of them, and the ones you've listed here are great!

I like dymondwood for louder calling and dads monkeywood to tone it down a bit.
