Classic Shotguns

I was just thinking about how many Turkey's have been killed over the years with those old classic guns. Anybody still use an old Belgium made A5, or Winchester model 12, or a favorite old SxS scattergun? Let's see your "old" but classic turkey guns.

My goal is to take one down with this gun that was just passed down to my daughter this year.  It's a Winchester M12 20 ga manufactured in 1914 (one of the early ones) and has a modified barrel.  It is mint condition and very functional.

Nice looking gun Gophert. What load will you shoot out of it? I'm guessing lead would be the safest?

I just picked up this Browning A5 made in 1954. It somewhat replaced my first shotgun that I ever bought with my own money which was a Belgium made 16ga A5. I was a dumb kid and made a poor decision to sell it long ago. I like to think I've gotten more wise as I'll be 40 this year and have a new found passion for these old guns.

Anyway, I plan to try and get a Turkey and a few ducks with this one this year.

Well I have not decided yet.  Yes it will be a lead load, but I will have to handload it. It will only take
2 1/2 shells.  Although someone told me it would eject a 2 3/4 shell but I have not tried it.  Once I kill one with my normal gun I think it would be cool to get one with it.  A good 30 yard load with 7.5's would probably be fine.

Thats the same gun I shot my first bird with back in 1987 at the ripe old age of 16.The one I used wasnt quite that old,but a M12 with the fixed mod. choke.Belonged to my grandpa.My dad still has it today.

I recently aquired a lightly used 1959 vintage Field Grade Win. Model 12 12 ga with a 28" modified barrel. It is in excellent shape and is ALL original, even the wood finish is original. I am sure down the road I'm going to try it for turkeys. I'll have to find a good 2 3/4" magnum turkey lead load. Any suggestions on a good one? So far the gun has worked very well for pheasants.
