TSS straight 8's

I bought a Remington 870 20 ga 21" barrel.  Is anyone running a straight TSS 8 load, and if so what choke have you found works best with this load and gun?

Which load of 8's you running?  I have seen a few guys running 1 5/8oz of 8's, they seem to do well with .575 to .585 chokes.

It's going to be either the 1 5/8 or the 1 7/8 load.

I've got a buddy running that load in a youth model 870 with a sumtoy 562-3. I watched him count 345 in 10 at 40 yards and he quit counting. There was more pellets in the target, but he said he wasn't gonna count anymore.

You are the boss but I suggest that 1 7/8 using TSS is not necessary for a 20 gauge especially.

Del you sure it wasn't the nines?

I have never shot any where near that high with the 8s in a 20g. With the 9s one of my 20s will hit around 340-350 consistently.

Straight 8s usually run around to 200.

Its was 8s. Thats all he shoots. Was with him when he loaded it up.

It could have been the yardage was off. He said it was 40, but i wasnt there when he measured it out. I was there when he shot so i saw the pattern, but i didnt step off the yardage.

Same set up I run, pattern is just nasty, well into the 300's and very even!

Del I am not questioning the count but if he was over 345 in the 10, I would love to know what was in the 20. There is only 508 pellets in a 2 oz load. Not much wiggle room there

Scott, we were at Sumtoys shop and he had a sumtoy 362-3 in the gun. He set the target up and shot. I was there but messing with something in my truck. I walked back over and he had pulled the target down  and started counting. I heard the bang, saw the TSS loads, saw the choke  handed to him. I did not see how far he walked the target out on the range. He said it was 40.

I've seen it happen, got some #9 last year that was more like 9.5 and they dang near broke 500 in the 10" out of a fronds sbe 2 that would usually hang around low 400's. So I'd say yea its possible

Buy you a set of gold miners screens. I bought a set and screen all of my shot. I usually can seperate 7's, 8, and 9's to keep them consistent on shot size. I am not 100% sure but I think it keeps the flyers and the "blown shot" from happening. If nothing else it gives me a reason to play with turkey stuff in the off season.
