I have my REM 11-87 SM dialed in with HEVI, 3in, #7  and JH .660 choke.  Shoots near 220 in the 10 which is great.  My question... I'm going to try some HEVI 3.5in, #7 ... same make and shot size... just longer shell.   Do you think I should be ok with the same choke?  Or will I probably have to start over ?

My guess is that you are going to be fine as long as you use the same shot size. Going from a 3in to a 3 1/2in is just giving you more shot that's all IMO.

The choke should be fine. Hold on to the three inchers. What will be needed is therapy for the shoulders, cheek bone, middle finger possibly, and posssible development of flinching.
Other than that no problemo.

I shot a 665 in mine when using the 3.5" shell and never a 670-675 using 6s. So for #7s you are most likely OK.

I hear you... have been going back and forth about using the 3.5.... as I have always been a 3in shooter. But this new super mag as the capabilities... so I ought to use it I guess.   I'm pretty sure the 3.5, #7 don't really kick anymore than the 3in Mag Blends.

Why no! Man up and give them a try lol, they won't kill you. I mean your're getting great numbers right now, but the 3.5 inchs are worth a try.

My opinion, I find the 3.5's no big deal to shoot out of my 11-87, after using my cheap Mossberg 500. My Mossberg with just 3 in. Win. HV's beat me up a lot more than my 11-87 does with 3.5 Hevi. One of the reasons I shoot 3.5's out of the 11-87, not that bad.

As for the question, my gun did not seem to like the 3.5 7's as much as the 3.5 6's, and that was with 3 different tubes. Ended up shooting the 3.5 6's.

Some of these posts make me wonder how we killed turkeys 25 or 30 years ago before all these souped up shells and chokes. At 40 yard that set up should kill him graveyard dead. I would be more worried about missing him at 10 yards than him dying if i put the load on him.

FL-Boss

I actually do worry about that. I would rather shoot a bird at 40 yards than 10 or 15 yards any day....

My correction, must have been turkey hunting too many days in a row.

11-87 and 3.5" = a heck of a lot better deal recoil wise that any pump,O/U, single barrel.
You will do well to give that a try.
