How to dull a shiny ejection port?

Some Mossbergs have extremely shiny bolts and elevator. So bad that the sun broadcast a mirror effect. Has anyone experienced how to black them out or camo? Also what is that metal? This is the last thing I lack in turning a Bantam 20ga into a dedicated turkey slayer

Competition shooters would "smoke" their sights to reduce glare. they used a torch that used alcohol and charcoal if I remember correctly.you could try it with a candlefrom a birthday cake.

rattle black,dura coat, Aluma hyde from brownells any of those will work.

There is a product called Slip Plate that is graphite based but dries hard and a flat black/gray. It has the added benefit of lubricating anything that it's sprayed on. It lasts a long time. I've used it on small internal gun parts for years.

One caution. It is nasty stuff. You'll want to use it outdoors and probably want to use gloves.

You can find it many times at farm supply stores in both aerosol cans and regular paint cans.

Thanks for the response. Should I rough the finish up with something before spraying or would it bond to that slick crome finish? I used a black sharpie and marked a little spot then let it dry a few days and it would rub off

If you clean the surface, no roughing up is necessary. The Slip Plate will adhere very well and stay on for a long time. Just be sure to let it cure thoroughly.
