What is your opinion on Stoeger shoguns? Semi-autos in particular
What model would you reccommend?

I have a 12 gauge O/U I won at a Ducks Unlimited banquet. It has the DU engraving, I ran a couple of hundred sporting clay rounds through it with no problem. No barrel selector on mine. Bottom fires first then top. No shell extractors, you have to pick em'. Not a bad working man's O/U, you won't impress your buddies at the country club. It's no Franchi!
Hope that helped.

I left out that my interest was in semi-autos
Sorry 'bout that but thanks for the input anyway

I heard good things about the M3500. I haven't shot one, though...

Barry at one time I owned two m2000s. I got rid of my pistol grip one this summer since Im running 20 ga turkey guns now. I still own my straight stock one though for ducks. both of mine have been good guns. The m2000s have gone through 3 generations of changes. generation 1 is not known for their quality. Benelli bought them out and fix some issues to make gen 2, and then worked out some other kinks for generation 3. Gen 3 guns ( one with red front sight) are known to be great guns. The most widespread issue with the m2000s is shell hang up. Due to several things. Most is user error, but some do due to the gun itself. If you join Shotgun World forum, there is a retired gun smith, Dave Clarke in the Stoeger section that can pretty much tell you how to work out ANY issue you have with them, if you have any at all. He has guns with 50k rounds through them...Again both of mine have been great once I got past the "break in" time frame. According to benelli customer service, they have less customer service related issues with their Stoeger line than with Franchi or Benelli. What most people dont know is that several years back, after benelli spent money to fix the issue at Stoeger and update their factory, that now many of your high dollar benelli super black eagles are made on the same production line in Turkey as the Stoegers.
Stoeger came out with the m3500 about 3 or 4 years ago. it is a 3.5 inch version of the m2000. They made some design changes from the m2000 and most all the reviews Ive heard on this gun have been good. I was surfing the net the other day for another m2000 and found that Stoeger has now come out with the M3000. I guess that they are gonna let this gun replace the m2000, as its a 3 inch gun. I bet its a good one.
Like i said I used to own 2, still have one, and they have been turkey, deer, and duck killers for me. id own another and wish they had a 20 gauge.

Love them. Had a first gen M2000, zero issues. Currently have a M3500, zero issues. Well built alternative to the more expensive Benelli's
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.

PS....if you have an ounce of outlaw in ya....its good to know that you can put 4 3 inch shells in them even when plugged for 3.

I've owned 3.
Condor O/U- wasn't a bad gun, just swung like a 2x4 sold it
Coach SXS- See condor description. I looked like I was sighting down an interstate.
M2000- Total piece of crap. I would not take one if you gave it to me. $200 in parts and it did not make it one duck season. Before Benelli put the hammer down the guys in the Stoeger forums were talking class action lawsuit. Bolt handle snapped clean the heck off first time shooting clays. 2nd time the ejector broke.
For the money I'd be looking for a used Beretta 390. Best value in Semi Auto out there. Paid $425 for my 20 and $475 for my 12. Still out there under the Beretta 3901 name and they are a little over $500 at Walmart.

I bought my son Tony a Stoeger 2000 for a deer hunting gun about 6 or 7 years ago.
He's NEVER has had any problems with it ever. It's a tack driver. I've heard nothing but good thing about the Stoeger 3500 but I myself have never shot one. Hard to beat the price too.

Last year they were a HOT item. I ordered a 3500 in Nov and went on the 'waiting list'. March rolled around and it still had not arrived. I couldn't wait around so I picked up a SBE2, put the pistol grip on it and a FF3, haven't looked back. Don't know about this year though as far as their waiting list. Last I knew they had not fitted the 3500 with the pistol grip but things could have changed since then. Friends of mine shoot them, they say they like it. Seems like a good gun for the price, that is if you can get you hands on what you want.

I have a 2000 with the pistol grip. Originally, my plan was to set the gun up as a backup gun for my old 11-87. Now, the Remington stays in the closet. The Stoeger is considerably lighter, which, especially as you get older, is a big plus. I also love the pistol grip. I've never had it jam, something I can't say about my 11-87, because it certainly will if it gets too dirty. I'm rough on guns. I don't hesitate to drag them through the brush, or crawl across a field if I need to, and tend to only clean them up at the end of the season, or at least some time before the season opens again.
In my opinion, the Stoeger is a good, solid "working man's" gun that won't break the bank, or cause you to tear up if you scratch it on a barbed wire fence.

Last I spoke to them, June. they were to be coming out with the M3500 with pistol grip, 24" barrel, and APG camo.
If they do by March/April I will pick one up.

the auto's are a working man's gun
won't break the bank and will still get the job done
it's not the harvest,it's the chase
