When broadside I prefer slightly behind the wingbutt on a bird that is not blown up. If strutting, if picturing a tic-tac-toe board, the middle and upper middle of the board, if that makes any sense

On a strutter facing dead away, the ol texas heart shot and if not strutting, anywhere straight up the spine above the tail feathers. I also like to practice a dead on facing shot and try to hit just above the beard.... but I'm not slick enough to pull off that shot on a real bird
