I got a Very Nice Even 18" Pattern with 143 in 10" at 25 Yards, using 1300fps 1.125 Ounce Remington Nitro Sporting Clays #7.5 Lead, in my 12 Gauge NEF Pardner with 27.5" Barrel.

For close up setups, this has me a little bit intrigued.

I also plan to try some 1.25 Ounce #7.5 Loads, and some 1.5 Ounce #6's, and 1.5 Ounce #4's.  The 3" shells are too brutal in this NEF, so I'll stick to 2.75" shells in it.

I intend to try some 2 Ounce #6's in my 870 and Indian Creek .665 when I get the time.

Give the Win Super X 3" - 1-7/8 oz. - #6's a try and thank me later. BEST value out there as far as turkey loads are concerned! I get a great pattern with them out of my 870/Kick's .655 but gonna run one through the JH .665 just to see how it does.

UPDATE: Ran one through the JH .665 and the Kick's .655 beats it.

It's good to know that your girlfriend is comfortable with 3".

Remember, this is a fixed Modified NEF.

I tried several different loads yesterday, and nothing beat the 1.125 Ounce 1300fps #7.5 Lead numbers.....not even the 1.25 Ounce 1330fps #7.5's.

some of those 6x7.5 duplex loads you were makin prolly work well in it? :icon_thumright:

I tried a 3" 4x6x7.5 1.875 Ounce load through it, and the NEF pounded me good, and jumped a foot straight up in the air, clean out of my hands.  "That" convinced me that unless I install a Limbsaver Recoil Pad, I'd better stick to 2.75" loads in this rig.  It really is a joy to run 2.75" shells through it, without any recoil pad at all.  The 3" recoil was crazy.

try some of those triplex loads in 2.75....they may be great for your yard gun. :icon_thumright:

Does your NEF have a weight in the butt stock? If not add one and it will take some of the pain out of the 3 inchers.
IF TURKEYS COULD SMELL WE WOULD NEVER KILL ONE!

I had to install the Limb saver on the 835 for the three inch and above. I shoot a lot of estate 2 3/4 #6 for pheasant and the pattern was great. I did not do the 10 in circle but rather the pattern had no holes out to forty yards. With that said I use Classic Doubles 2 3/4 #6 for non lead pheasant release sites and you get more distance and IMHO cleaner kills with out the recoil. This way I carry on type of shell for both the 835 and the old J C Higgins model 20.

Really doesn't apply to your Mod choked gun, I shot some Estate 1-1/8oz 7.5s and Rem 2-3/4" 1.5oz Nitro 6s last year in a couple rigs around 20-25 to get optics close.  I was quite surprised at the tight patterns.  Probably could have stretched them to 35 with ease as tight as they were from the turkey chokes.
