My new choke came in the mail today so I had to go try it out. I'm shooting my Winchester 1300 with the tru glo SSX choke, 3in Hevi 13, 2 oz of #6.
I was hoping for a little better at 40 yards but I have to admit it is the best combination I've tried so far. 20, 30 and 40 yards

Yep, dead turkey. Ditch the turkey targets, shoot at a big piece of cardboard while aming at a small circle in the middle of the cardboard. Make a 10 inch circle around the most dense part of your pattern. Count em up. Over 100 at 40 yds and your ready to go. If you have adjustable sights make your move and your ready to go. If you only have a bead, you'll know where to hold for your best pattern.

it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I was shooting off a solid rest, using sandbags. I shot the 40 yard target first then the 30 and 20 yards last. that guns kicks bad so I took the longest shot first before the kick messed me up. It may be more shooter than gun.

hard to see hits on the 40 yard target, you've definitely got a great 30 yard gun/choke combo there...agree with the others try the large paper/cardboard with a point of aim then compare to point of impact and pattern just so you know your effective range...proves that a classic gun can get the job done...

Really don't want to go with anything lower than 6's, I was hoping for a tighter group not just more holes. Clark game me some advice. I'll try it and attempt another pattern test.

I spent last Sunday polishing my barrel, it didnt seem to improve a whole lot but it did center and tighten things up.
What do you think?

Dead turkey...still hard to tell what you've got as far as numbers comparison without the bigger paper.

IMO, I think you have it choked down too much according to all the big holes in the pattern.  Mine shoots well with an IC .660 for Hevi 3/2/6 (185-200/10") and Win. Ext. 3" 6s (145-160/10") and a Kicks .660 for lead.  Hope that helps.

find the center of the densest part of the pattern, draw a 10" circle around that then count the pellets...there are a lot of small holes in that pattern but looks pretty dense just a bit high.  If that's your impact point then move your sights down a bit and you'll be in business. What choke/constriction are you using?

The choke is a strut stopper from tru glo. Const. is 643,
I've used a comp n choke in 655 with Winchester xtended range 6's 3"  with about the same results. I was looking to tighten up my 40 yard pattern.
