I went to my property in Barbour county Alabama this morning to do a little work.  When I got there about 9:30 I got out, slammed the door and a bird gobbled :-\.  I got my camera and went towards him.  White t-shirt, shorts, flip flops and no call.  I got fairly close to where I thought he was and yelped with my mouth and he gobbled again about 100 yards or so.  I went into bobcat mode and slipped up on him and several hens at about 60 yards.  He just used up his free pass.  He might be #1 on the hit list next year.   I hate turkey's! :angry9:

That's what I was thinking.  I hope to have the last laugh.  If I'd had a rock I could have given him a warning this morning.

I like that picture.
Do you typically still see birds strutting and hear gobbling this late in the spring on your property?

Usually all the way into late May or early June.  The latest I've seen one strutting with hens was on July 4th.   What I find odd is the fact that I see poults vary in size from quail size to about 3/4's the size of the Momma hen in late summer every year.   I know there has to be about three months difference in their ages.
