Anybody use this in the drying/curing process?  Looks like its household/laundry stuff

redarrow

drenalinld

All that I have ever used.  Keep a ziploc bag bout half full of it and stick flesh end of beards in it.  I have used it to dry and cure other things like snake skins before.

TRKYHTR

Been using it for a long time. Most taxidermist use it also.

It works and is pretty cheap to.

mudhen

Not any more.

I use Bora-Safe from Van Dyke's.  Seems to work much faster than Borax.  I have found Borax to be very slow to work....

It works great.  My best friend is a taxidermist and he turned me on to it.

It's all that I use. I'm sure that Bora-Safe is faster/better because it probably contains more borax and less/no soap. I always procrastinate on putting my fans on a plaque, so time is really not a problem with me.. The Mule Team Borax works fine..
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I think you are correct.  The catalog says it has something added to preserve.

All I know is the difference in effect is pretty remarkable, I can tell what fans/beards have been done in Borax, and those done with Bora-Safe.....
