Hey folks,

So far two outings and O-fer...

Had a gobbler  come in close but wouldn't commit last wednesday (couldn't see him through cover) then female walked right by me at the end of the day..

On sat, had a bird come in but it stayed behind me... couldn't see it... I didn't have a decoy out so it wouldn't come out in front of me.. so I just kept softly calling occasionally. The bird was clucking followed immediately by purrs... Do males (jakes or toms) cluck n purr or is it only females?

Thanks

Those clucks and purrs were contact calls. the turkey was looking for you and asking you to show yourself.
That ol' tom's already dead. He just don't know it yet .... The hard part is convincing him.

Are you REALLY working that gobbler, or is HE working YOU?
