So I got this wood at my local woodcraft. It was marked as a cutoff piece. I guess their supplier sends them pieces of scrap cut offs of the stuff that they mill, at a discounted price & woodcraft passes along the discount.
Anyhow, this stuff is pretty dense , turns fairly nicely, and is oily kinda like cocobolo or lignum vitae. It has beautiful colors to it, streaks of pink like pink ivory, and streaks of more of a cream color. Any insight would be much appreciated.

What does it smell like when turning? Is it heavy and real hard?

Culpepper, yes it is pretty heavy, hard, & dense. It smells like tamboti when it is turned. some spots are so hard that when you turn it it comes off as a dust, & others are , while still hard, not so hard that it comes off as a dust , more like chips.
