There are many good hiking socks of wool blend out there.  You can look at REI, REI Outlet, Backcountry, Sierr@  Trading, etc. and find them.  Thorlo, Smartwool, and even private label socks.

I coincidentally bought some wool blend socks at a Timberland outlet years ago in N. GA for a good price.  They have no wool scratch to them at all, they are very smooth and comfortable.  I bought them 10-15 years ago and miraculously still have them somehow.  They are my favorite outdoor socks, and I don't generally care all that much about Timberland.
