I can't wait for this spring to hunt turkeys and morrels.  Last spring a friend and I both shot nice long beards within an hour of each other and then spent the next hour picking as many morels as we could carry out.  It was a great morning for sure!

shadetree callers

The old-timers always told me to look for dead overhanging limbs on an elm tree . They can be spotted by their rusty color . Here's a few more alongside a Charlie Parrish call . When you pick them always tap them on the ground to help spread the spores around and always carry them in an onion sack . That allows the spores to still fall to the ground as you walk around !!

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Not sure but , won't the last week of Mo. season be a little late for the morrels ?   :turkey:

Overgrown orchards around old farmsteads are also good spot to hunt.
