I believe it was mainly one or two runs last year that shot poorly. Help me out with this guys, but I believe they were the 3004xx that were giving the trouble. I wouldnt worry so much about getting these at a big store such as cabelas, because they are likey long gone. Not sure what this years lot numbers are but the ones I have shot have done well. Some of the other guys can probably tell you some of this years numbers. Hope this helps

What about the 3 inch loads?  Lot #200788 was the good patterning loads from 2010.  And do Lot #'s always increase in number??  There are several posts on this site about ordering and receiving the 3 inch Hevi #7s with Lot #'s beginning with 101.

most of the 3" i have gotten over the past year and even as recent as a month ago starts with 100

I'm not sure about the lot numbers on the 3" loads, you will have to ask the 3" shooters on here. I am only familiar with the 3.5" loads because that is what I prefer to shoot. With the 3.5's, it seems like the numbers always go up.

And how did they pattern compared to the Lot #200788 which was spectacular??

I can tell you for a fact that the Hevi 13 3.5" 2 1/4 oz #7's with lot# 300325  are GOLD!

I purchased 4 boxes in the fall of 2010, 3 of the boxes had the above lot# and one had 300324.

My 26" barrel got over 300 in a 10" at 40
My 23" barrel got 280 in a 10" at 40.

Thank goodness I still have 3 full boxes.  :z-guntootsmiley:

Hope this helps.

I only had 2 and a half boxes of the 7s with lot # 300325 left so I ordered 4 more boxes. I got them in about a month ago and they all had lot # 300524. I then heard that hevi shells price was about to go up so I ordered 10 more boxes. They came in about two weeks ago. All ten boxes of the shells are lot # 300514. I didn't know the 300514 shells were good until I read this thread. I'm a little excited now  ;D .

How about 300524?

Hard to say unless you have a 2010 shell to compare it to out of the same gun and set up.  Lot comparisons are not very scientific or conclusive when comparing what other people shot out of their gun.  My suggestion is to buy 3 boxes with the same lot# and find the best setup with that shell and leave it alone or handload your own.

I do know that it was early 2011 when the "bad lot" was found.  Somewhere on here I read that someone from HeviShot finally admitted to a change in components for the 2011 shell, but never told what Lot# that started with.

You could really provide the site great info if you would shoot all 3 Lot#'s out of the same set-up.  We know the 300325 is good.  I have not seen proof that the 300514 are good.   If there is a comparison, please post the link.  THANKS!

Yes the 300325 are very good shells (320-330 at 40 with my 870). I will try to shoot a shell from the other two lot #s tommorrow if the wind isn't blowing too hard and if its not raining.

Please do test them! I have 3 boxes left of the 300324 lot, and I just bought 8 boxes more, and they were the 300524. I would love to see how they compare to each other, until I can make it to the range to test them in my own set up. Tahnks in advance!

Gooserbat

I have 2 boxes of 300530, and 1 box of 300509. I hope these are good its going to be my first year shooting hevi shot.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

The wind is suppose to blow 20 mph plus all day today. It's not looking like I'll be able to shoot.

The only lot numbers that i have heard are bad are the 3.5 loads ending in 400.  3004XX.  The 3in loads have remained consistent for me in 3/2/7 and 3/2/6.  Last year i was looking around for 3.5/7's and ran across a huge stock of them at Woods and Water in AL. Every box ended in 400.  Thanks to this website i didnt buy any. :thanks:
