Gonna give the 1 7/16 oz. nitro straight 7's a try. Should I try a PG .555 or a PG .570 first??? Wondering if the .555 will be too tight for the 26" barrel on my 11-87, or would be great?? I know alot of people have had good luck with the .555, just want some opinions. Some say .555, some say .570, trying to narrow it down. Also, give me your rationale as to why?? I know both will kill turks, just looking for the best combo to start out with??
Thanks for any help

CB on the run

I think Camoman just posted pictures with Nitros and I think an IC 555 but I could be wrong.  A 555 might be a little tight at 20 unless your shooting a scope or dot.  I wouldn't go with a 555 with just a bead.

Yea, I seen them. My barrel is a little longer than his. Mine is a 26" pipe, his is around a 21" or so. My main question is do you think the .555 will be too tight for the 26" pipe, or will shoot fine?? I know the hevi-13 7's like a more open choke in this gun, the .570 shot better than the .555. But, that doesn't mean this will be true for nitros. The shot is smaller so they could be squeezed more in theory. I also am going to mount a nikon turkey pro scope on this gun, so the close range shots don't worry me too much at all.

deep down you know you gotta try them both!

570... Reason... I missed 4 birds in one day with the 555 inside 30 yards. .

Well seeing your going to scope the gun I voted .555.... :anim_25:
Anything closer than 40 is going to be very very tight!! ;D

Thanks guys. I am going to run a couple through both chokes I believe. I have a .555 coming that should be here before my nitros do. I will try both and see what happens. Never know I guess. But I am expecting higher numbers from the .555. That's for sure, but the trigger pull will tell the story. Thanks guys.

I got 190's with the .570. Very even pattern.

I shoot a PG . 570 in a beretta 390  20guage/  H 13 7's.  If you are going to hunt with the gun..shooting turkeys for the most part at less than 40yds. I would go with the .570.  I shoot H13 7's in my 20guage and two 12 guages and my experience is that most turkey are killed at 35 or less.  If the turkey gets in less than 30 yds you better have it together when you pull the trigger or it is easy to miss.

I voted the pg .570 simply because it has proven to be more versatile and consistent in my 26" pipe.  I can shoot those close up birds and still have plenty of pattern density past 40 yards.

Depends on barrel length...
.555 in mine

Barrel length definately seems to make a difference..im shooting a 26" barrel as well and the .570 will rock and roll with  Rem Hevi 6's and  Hevi 13 7's.

I have a 26" pipe on my 1187. Would there be a difference with the 555 if your shooting hevi-shot 7`s??
