What does Halal certified mean?

Don't panic. That link is from a crackpot website in Australia. I also couldn't find on that site any mention of Butterball money going to certifying organisations. I call hoax.

The O.P. is sensational but not exactly accurate.  If one wants to get to the bottom of it, he can read up in the USDA regs and publications for the Food Safety division (FSIS) of the USDA.

Maybe I missed something in all of the "legal speak" of that link, but it appears to be talking about exemptions rather than certifications. 

I have attempted to contact Butterball by phone but only get voice mailboxes.  I'l keep trying.

This is BS and not accurate. Call it is - yes. But don;t make stuff up.
