In the Raiders thread, on congrats to a Raider, Shane Simpson has put up his video from the Nationals in Owl hooting where he finished 9th. If you need any questions on Owl Hooters, he'd more than willing to answer pms. I can't remember what he uses.

Wes I gave Kaitlyn my old Mad owl hooter, we sat here last night practiceing on them and that kid is pretty dang awesome on it, she picked it up like she did with your trumpet call.

Oh by the way, I did feed her.. :icon_thumright:

Do you guys use the "laugh" on the owl hooter? I usually just use the 8 note when trying to locate birds or just the last part or "y'all". I think the laugh would be good to use I just haven't learned to do it real well.

Travis.   The laugh is pretty easy to do.   As you build hoot's with your hands cupped just open them up and keep hootin'.  You'll hear the pitch change.  As you get used to adding laugh's you can make all kind's of crazy sounds like real bird's do.   As far as using an 8 noted hoot a lot of time's they will be gobbling while your hooting and you'll miss them so for the first 3-4 times I hoot in the morning I usually keep it to a single hoot.   It I don't get a response I start doing all kinds of crazy stuff. lol   I love hootin'.

Is the wood owl hooter call have like more deeper tone thats more natural than the platic ones.
From what I understand they are suppose to sound almost exactly the same. I have asked that same question in the turkey locator call section and that was the answer I got.

t_eagen13

Yeah no difference in sound, just different options for looks.
